Made-to-Order Costumes
Ben Franklin suit
This suit was custom made for a gentleman who travels the country personifying Ben Franklin. This particular garment was made to replicate a blue suit that Franklin wore in many portraits. Working off of multiple existing pictures, we found a fabric that matched and made the blue coat, waistcoat, and breeches out of a cotton twill and lined with a silky polyester. |
Polonaise gown
This gown was custom made for an actress who often portrays Elizabeth Bradford (wife of Attorney David Bradford, one of the Whiskey Rebellion leaders in the early 1790s) for the Washington County Historical Society. This actress chose the fabric and style to represent the personality of Elizabeth Bradford. This style of clothing was very popular in the 18th Century. |
